Using Frames with Wire Holes

Before using frames with wire holes, they need to be assembled correctly. Follow the instructions for "Assembly of Mini-Frames and Preparation for Use."

Frames with wire holes are thin wooden plates with two holes each on the long sides (115 mm). There are a total of 4 holes with a diameter of 2 mm, allowing you to thread the wire through the entire row of mini-frames.

Once the frames are assembled, you can proceed to install the mini-frames in hive frames (either half frames or full frames), wire them, and introduce the bees. The installation principle for mini-frames in half frames and hive frames is identical. For example, let's consider the installation in half frames for hive supers. First, prepare the half frames.

If the dimensions of the half frames are smaller or exactly match the dimensions of the mini-frames, do the following:

Enlarge the dimensions of the half frame by reassembling it or, if possible, slightly pull out the fixing nails to "expand" the frame. This will make it easier and faster to install the mini-frames.

If the dimensions of the half frames are larger than the dimensions of the mini-frames, do the following:

Attach the bottom bar of the half frame with a screw, pre-drilling small holes to prevent the bar from cracking. This will allow the bar to rotate. Not only does this make it easy to secure the mini-frames in the hive frame, but it also makes it easy to remove them.

We proceed to stretching the wire. We pass one piece of wire through the side bar of the half-frame, then we stretch it through the upper and lower row of holes in the mini-frames.

Align the mini-frames and secure the wire.

Now proceed to install the wax. Cut wax pieces measuring 65x95.

Secure the prepared wax pieces onto the wire by bending, pressing, or using an electric embedder.

The frames are ready for placing bees. Repeat this procedure for the entire planned volume of mini-frames. This is a classic method of wiring mini-frames. Despite there being more convenient methods, many of our customers prefer this method.

Note:

Mini-frames with holes come in a wide range of sizes. For the application of this wiring method, the sizes of mini-frames and hive frames must be correctly matched.
