Before using mini frames with side grooves, they need to be assembled correctly. Follow this instruction: "Assembly of mini frames and preparation for use."
Sectional frames with side grooves are thin wooden plates with grooves on the long (115 mm) sides. The grooves are made on both sides, allowing you to lay wax through the entire row at once with a single piece.
Once the frames are assembled, you can proceed to install the mini frames into hive/store frames, fill them with wax, and introduce bees.
Prepare wax pieces sized 100x415 (see photo). One strip is used for one row of frames, i.e., for six pieces. Therefore, you need to prepare six times fewer strips than the planned number of mini frames to be installed.
After the wax strips are prepared, thread the mini frames onto the prepared wax pieces. It's advisable to leave small protrusions on the extreme sides - (see photo).
Now carefully press the entire row of mini frames into the store/hive frame. In the process, the wax release will bend and create sufficient tension to secure all the mini frames. Additionally, for additional fixation, you can place a small piece of wax on the bottom side of the mini frames.
The frames are ready for introducing bees. Repeat this procedure for the entire planned volume of mini frames. This is the fastest way to prepare mini frames, which is why frames of this type are in high demand among our customers.
Mini frames with side grooves are available in a wide range of sizes. For the effective use of this method, the sizes of mini frames and store/hive frames must be correctly matched.
If the sizes of the used store/hive frames are smaller or larger than required, measures should be taken to address the issue. If the store/hive frames are larger, you can additionally insert a few pieces of wax. Also, the bottom bar of the frame can be set on screws to ensure the rotation of the bottom bar. This allows you to easily install mini frames into the store frame and then, by rotating the bottom bar, press them.
If the store/hive frames are smaller, they need to be enlarged by repeating the assembly process.
This method of preparing frames has been tested and proven to work. We hope everyone can achieve excellent results in the production of sectional cellular honey using this approach.
